PostHeaderIcon The Difference Between a Netbook and a Laptop

In the modern era of various types of electronic gadgets, there is a growing demand for compact and powerful devices that help people perform the basic functions. As such it is not a surprise that handheld computers, smart phones and personal digital assistants are becoming a preferred choice as compared to personal computers and laptops. One such device that is fast emerging as an unusual choice over laptops is the netbook.

Even though many people consider netbooks to be just the smaller versions of laptops, the differences between the two go beyond appearances. A laptop is basically a computer that is portable and can perform all the functionality of a PC with equal efficiency. However, even though a netbook provides all the basic functionality of a laptop, it does not support some other important features and has limited use because of restricted by battery size, processing power and storage space.

The difference between netbooks and laptops is often very vague to define since netbooks are also referred to as mini laptops and essentially are a compact version of the laptops. These mini laptops are smaller in size and weight as compared to a laptop and look more like an average diary. netbooks are also much less priced than the conventional laptops and they can be had for as low a price as $199.

However, netbooks are not as powerful as laptops and cannot support bigger and complex programs. They also have no option for using CD’s or DVD’s as they are not provided with any optical disc drive. However, the connectivity of netbooks is comparable with that of laptops and internet downloads can also be done at a faster speed. So while a netbook essentially retains all the basic functionality of laptop, it is comparatively much smaller, lighter, cheaper and simpler.
